Khula
Mthimkhulu.
Curious by nature, hands-on by practice. I build real systems end-to-end - from databases and APIs to mobile interfaces and embedded devices. Based in South Africa.
A few things
about me.
I live for hard problems - in the code, under the bonnet, and in the gym.
Petrolhead, runner, and avid reader - in no particular order. I'm drawn to systems: how they work, where they break, and how to build them better. That same curiosity is what pulls me into software. I'm studying BSc Computing, have completed an NQF Level 5 in Software Development, and I'm currently building eStokvel from scratch.
Backend, scalable systems & infrastructure.
The deeper, less glamorous parts of building software are the ones I find most rewarding.
What I'm up to
- Building - eStokvel community savings platform
- Studying - BSc Computing
- Exploring - distributed systems & AWS
- eV Challenge South Africa - designed, built & raced an electric vehicle
- FNB Certificate in Full-Stack Development
Mentor
Mentored learners through debugging sessions, code reviews, and project planning - helping them build the habits that matter more than syntax.
Things I've shipped .
eStokvel
A savings group platform for South African stokvels, working across USSD, mobile, and web. Manages members, contributions, payouts, and group activity across both feature phones and smartphones.
Smart Home IoT
An IoT home automation system built with ESP32 microcontrollers. Sensor data streams into Firebase RTDB and is surfaced via a custom web frontend and React Native mobile app for remote control.
The stack I
build with.
The tools I reach for daily, grouped by where they sit in the stack.
